Flow Country Partnership is Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Far North Line CRP congratulates the Flow Country Partnership on achieving UNESCO World Heritage site status, which confirms the international importance of its blanket peat bogs in the fight against climate change. It joins the Serengeti, the Galapagos Islands, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Everglades as areas gaining this status because of their unique and important ecosystems.

For those wishing to visit, the RSPB reserve at Forsinard is at the heart of the World Heritage Site, and it is a spectacularly scenic journey to travel there by rail. When you arrive, the station building houses an exhibition about the reserve and is just a boardwalk away from their imposing observatory tower.
