Culrain (Cùil Rathain) Railway Station

Overlooking the Kyle of Sutherland is the early 20th-century Carbisdale Castle. This was home to the exiled King of Norway during the German occupation of Norway during World War II. At one time it was a Youth Hostel but this is now closed and the castle is in private ownership.

Culrain is a request stop for some services but not others. Check before departure.

What to see and do
Walk to Invershin station, less than a mile away across the Oykel viaduct footbridge, calling in at the Invershin hotel for a drink or a meal.
